Where does the time go?!

Gosh, its already the middle of December. I can't believe how fast time flies when you have a newborn. Maya is 7wks now and is such a blast! She is smiling and cooing, which just melts our hearts. Yesterday she grabbed a rag with both hands and started sucking on it (it may have just been a fluke accident?), but we were very excited new parents! Her favorite toy right now is the ponytail on the top of my head. I have never bounced my hair around so much, but she smiles and moves her arms and legs with excitment every time. We enjoy playtime together where we dance and listen to Christmas music, occasionally start to read a book, ( we never get quite through it because she likes to be bounced all the time!!), and play with her rattles. Our night life isn't too bad. Maya sleeps anywhere from 5-7 hours, which I will take any day!!!!! She is your typical newborn, cries when she is tired, hungry, needs to be changed, or wants to be bounced. I feel like we are pretty lucky!

October and November are all kind of a blur. We worked really hard at breastfeeding which I will say did not come easy to us. We finally got it down though and things are going really well! I didn't dress Maya up for Halloween, and we spent Thanksgiving here with Matt's parents and Stacey, Doug and Isabella. Now we are anxiously awaiting Christmas. We can hardly wait for Uncles and Auntie to get here!! So for now we will just enjoy her developments and look forward for more!!

Home Sweet Home

2 days old leaving the hospital!! Her first car ride. She did great and slept the whole way home. Maya and daddy sleeping, nights are rough!!!

Daddy's a Natural!!

She has arrived!!!!

Maya Elizabeth Ready arrived on Tuesday October 21 @ 11:48pm. She weighed 9lbs 3oz and was 191/4 in long. I started having contractions on Monday night around 7:30pm. At about midnight I started thinking they were getting much closer, still not knowing how intense things would get! I woke Matt up around 1:30am and at 2:30am we decided to go to his mom's house ( she lives so much closer to the hospital than we do!!) to labor. I was feeling good there for awhile and at 8:30am I decided I wanted to be at the hospital. I was checked at the hospital and I was 4.5-5cm. I called Auntie Stacey and Uncle Kenny ( who was in town visiting from Toronto), thinking things would move right along and I would have Maya soon?! Well a long time had passed. I was making snail pace progress and was sick the whole time. They broke my water at 5:30pm. At 6:30pm and 7cm I finally asked for epidural (yes it is what everyone says!!) By this time I was exhausted and my uterus was tired so my pushing was whimpy. At about 10:30 pm, they lowered my epidural to practically non existant and gave me pitocin to jump start my contractions (that worked!!), and at 11:48 pm I had a 9lb Maya!!!

Matt was amazing the entire time. He is the best coach/husband/support ever!! Auntie Stacey was great, I am glad she was able to be there, and uncle Kenny was awesome at keeping the hotline going....giving mom and everyone the play-by-play! FraNa was able to deliver her first grand baby so that was so special. Needless to say we had so much love and support around us, birth was truly amazing.

Gifts are fun!!

Here I am opening some great organic items for our little one!! I am only 2 weeks from game time, I can't wait.

Baby Shower!!

We had a nice baby shower on Saturday the 4th for Maya. It was lovely to share our new house with friends and just visit. She received many more wonderful books! I can't wait to add these wonderful stories to her room. Now I didn't want any pictures of me taken at my shower....call me crazy but I just don't feel like photos right now, but a few pictures were taken and I thought I would share 1 with everyone. I also included a picture of Bella....it wouldn't be a complete party without Maya's best cousin!!!

Finally a Family Blog!!!

Well here it is, finally a blog! It only took me 5 months to finally write something and understand what it is I am doing. We have been pretty busy here at the Ready household. Summer has come to an end and we are enjoying the phases of fall! My last day of work was Aug. 30th, so I have been busy preparing for our new arrival. She has somewhere to sleep and to be changed! I am definately nesting, I can't get enough of organizing or crafting. Matthew has been so wonderful. He now knows how I was as a manager, as I define my new role at home as House Manager ( or Kenny likes to say Executive Director of Domestic Affairs)!!! We also purschased a digital camera so stay tune for pictures!!! My intent for this blog is to send out updates every month to the family. I have a friend who does this and I love it!!! Take care everyone and next time maybe Maya will be here!!!
